Classes offered for Spring 2007 are arranged below by subject-matter. Sections of a distance learning course are numbered as "V1, V2... Sections of a hybrid course are numbered as HY1, HY2, and so on. The five-digit class ID is needed if you plan to register online. To register online, go to https://my.vccs.edu/. Please note that every section of a course will have a different class ID. Click on a course below for information about the instructor and the required textbooks. All textbooks are available in the bookstore.

Registration

For registration information, refer to the Schedule of Classes or call Admissions at 857-7231. For general information about distance learning, contact the Distance Learning and Information Technology Office at 857-6202 or 857-6567. For additional distance learning opportunities, the Virginia Community College System has information at: http://www.so.vccs.edu/vccsonline.

Fees

In-state cost per credit hour: $77.24  A three credit course is $231.72.  The Out of State E-rate is $158.35 per credit with a three credit course costing $475.05.

Student Orientations

Students who have never taken a distance learning course at Virginia Western Community College must either:

A) Meet with their respective instructor(s)  or
B)
Complete the online distance learning orientation.

The General Orientation Session with instructor(s) is on January 4, 2007, at 6:00 PM in assigned classrooms.  Click here to download the latest orientation room schedule.

If you choose to complete the online orientation, you may access it by following these steps:

1. Go to http://www.virginiawestern.edu.
2. Click on Distance Learning in the main menu under "At VWCC."
3. Click on Online Orientation under News on the right-hand side of the screen.

All students must complete the orientation that their respective instructors require. For information about your instructor's required orientation, you must log on to Blackboard at: http://learn.vccs.edu. You will need a username and password to log on. To obtain your username and password:

1. Go to http://www.virginiawestern.edu.
2. Click on "Look up your user name" under "My VWCC" on the right-hand corner of the page.
3. Your default password is your six-digit birthdate: month, day, and year.

If you find a user ID has not yet been created for you, use "vwstudent" and the password "college" to log on to Blackboard.

Hybrid courses will have their orientation at the first class meeting. Students enrolled in courses using videotapes may check out materials from the Library, 3rd floor Circulation Desk on January 4 and thereafter.
