Notes:
Hello, I am your instructor, Bill Owen. I have been teaching psychology full-time at Virginia Western for 28 years. I recently retired as a full time faculty member. Yes, I was teaching psychology at VWCC before some of you were born. The only other "real" jobs I had were as a computer programmer and as a junior high school math teacher. I am an alumnus of the University of Virginia (bachelor's, master's and doctorate). When I was an undergraduate in U.Va.'s College of Arts and Sciences all students wore coats and ties to class and there were no women students or other minority students. Times have changed; thank goodness.
My home is in S.W. Roanoke County on the side of a mountain. I live there with my wife, Ginny (who has taught sociology at VWCC), my 18-year-old stepson, Ben, three cats, two birds, and lots of wildlife (deer, wild turkeys, foxes, etc.). I am the web master for Roanoke Wildlife Rescue. My hobbies include bread making, beer making, and photographic art.
