Below is a list of courses offered via distance learning to fulfill the requirements for the AS Degree in General Studies from Virginia Western.

Virginia Western's General Studies program has been approved by the Virginia Community College System and the State Council of Higher Education as a transfer degree.  In addition, Virginia Western's distance learning activities are accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

  BIO 101-102*  General Biology I-II [Weekend College]** 8 cr.
  MTH 151 Mathematics for Liberal Arts I 3 cr.
  MTH 157  Elementary Statistics (or elective) 3 cr.
  ENG 241-242 Survey of American Literature I-II 6 cr.
  History (any two): HIS 121-122 U.S. History I-II  or HIS 101-102 History of Western Civilization I-II 6 cr.
  Humanities Electives: 
  ART 101-102 Art History & Appreciation
  MUS 121-122 Music Appreciation I-II
  HUM 201-202 Western Culture I-II		 6 cr.

             *GOL105-106 is an option for those not wanting to take BIO101-102.

               available via distance learning from some other colleges in the VCCS.
